How It Works

sh-Polypeptide-1 is a recombinant analog of bFGF. It binds fibroblast growth-factor receptors and, in laboratory (in vitro) studies, stimulates fibroblast proliferation and the synthesis of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid; FGF signaling is also involved in the hair-follicle growth cycle. As with all large growth-factor proteins, penetration through intact skin is inherently limited, so stabilization and delivery are the real formulation challenge and topical efficacy continues to be studied — this is an active, biologically-grounded ingredient, not a finished product claim.
