How It Works

With only about four ethylene-oxide units, Laureth-4 is relatively oil-loving (low HLB); it positions at the oil–water interface with a bias toward oil, so it works best as a co-emulsifier or oil dispersant, often paired with a higher-HLB laureth to reach a target emulsion balance.

Formulating with Laureth-4

Laureth-4 is used in the oil or water phase at low levels, usually alongside a higher-HLB partner to hit the required HLB for the oil blend. Observe good manufacturing and preservation practice.
