How It Works

Amylopectin’s branched, porous polysaccharide structure gives it a large surface area that readily absorbs oils and moisture at the skin’s surface — mopping up excess sebum to reduce shine and tack. As a fine powder dispersed through a formula it also modifies flow and imparts a characteristic soft, velvety slip, refining the sensory profile of the finished product.

Formulating with Amylopectin

Amylopectin is typically dispersed into the water phase or blended into powders, used at modest levels to fine-tune feel, mattify and control viscosity in creams, lotions, masks, primers and loose or pressed powders. It pairs well with emollients and occlusives such as squalane, and with barrier lipids like ceramides, to offset richness with a lighter, drier finish. Standard preservation and good manufacturing practice apply.
