Wheat Amino Acids are mixtures of low–molecular-weight, water-soluble amino acids obtained by complete hydrolysis of wheat proteins. Unlike partially hydrolyzed proteins (which contain longer peptides), these aminoacidic chains are primarily free amino acids that integrate readily into aqueous systems and align conceptually with the skin’s Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF). Because NMF is composed predominantly of amino acids and their derivatives, supplementing formulas with wheat-derived amino acids improves stratum corneum water binding, supports corneocyte plasticity, and helps normalize desquamation. In practice, this translates to lightweight hydration with a non-occlusive skin feel and better tolerance across skin types, especially in gel serums, toners, and modern emulsions designed for barrier comfort and smoothness.
