How It Works

PCA is a hygroscopic (water-loving) molecule that pulls moisture from the environment and the deeper skin toward the surface, holding it in the outer layers exactly as it does as part of the native NMF. Because it is skin-identical, it integrates seamlessly into the skin’s own moisture system.

Formulating with PCA

PCA is water-soluble and added to the water phase, usually at low levels; it is frequently paired with its salt (sodium PCA), glycerin and amino acids in NMF-style humectant complexes. Adjust pH as needed and observe good manufacturing and preservation practice.
